Truckee Police assist with rescue of injured bear cub

July 19, 2013 - A Truckee Police sergeant and community service officer assisted Dave Baker of the Truckee Bear League with recusing an injured 6 month old bear cub, which had been hit by a car a week and a half ago, and suffered a broken leg. Several Truckee residents have reported the cub in their neighborhood and yesterday the cub was found up in a tree. Dave Baker climbed the tree and was able to rescue the cub and lower it to the ground where it was placed in a crate.
The scared little critter was taken to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, where it underwent sugery this morning for two broken bones.
