Urban Village Music Series Has Audiences Dancing in the Sand
There's Still Time to Catch a Show

By: Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival

INCLINE VILLAGE, July 31, 2009 - The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival continues its dancing in the aisles with the last three performances of the Urban Village Monday Night Music Series, Aug. 3, 10 and 17 at Sand Harbor State Park. Known as Lake Tahoe's "party on the beach," the premiere of the Urban Village Monday Night Music Series has featured performances from Broadway to Afro-Cuban and beyond. With just three weeks remaining, there's still time to catch headline acts performing their own style of blues, Latin funk and Soulchestra, an unbeatable combination of classical, contemporary, soul and R&B.

"We've succeeded in creating an atmosphere that truly is a party on the beach with our audience dancing, having fun with their family and friends, while enjoying fabulous live music at our stunning lakeside venue," Catherine Atack, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival said. "We continue to see more and more people come out each week to experience our first class entertainment; the momentum of the Urban Village Monday night music series is contagious. For the next three weeks we are giving family and friends the opportunity to come out and enjoy a night under the stars with beautiful Lake Tahoe as the backdrop and dance the night away."

The final three performances of Urban Village Monday Night Music Series takes place at the Festival's Sand Harbor location with performances by:

* Aug. 3 - Sugaray, Blues: Texas-born blues artist Sugaray brings to the stage his wondrously huge voice, charm and character developed as a child singing gospel. A natural storyteller, Sugaray has performed with notable artists such as James Gadson, Joe Luis Walker, Kal David and Slash of "Guns N Roses" fame.

* Aug. 10 - Omar Alexander, Latin Funk: Returning artist Alexander first worked with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival in 2008 composing and performing the original score for the musical CAMBIO. A new generation U.S. Latin music singer, songwriter, composer and musician, Alexander marries smart, alt-Latin sensibility with no-nonsense booty-shaking funk. Alexander is also planning a personal tribute to Michael Jackson by covering a selection of the Pop legend's most famous songs arranged especially for this engagement.

* Aug. 17 - Karen Briggs, Soulchestra: World-renowned violinist Karen Briggs worked with musician Yanni for 15 years, starring in the 1994 performance "Yanni-Live at the Acropolis." Briggs presents an assortment of musical styles during her 'Soulchestra' performance that blends classical, contemporary, world, soul and R&B sounds. A high energy concert featuring world renowned musicians.

Tickets are still available for all shows and start at just $22 for open seating tiers and range in options up to the Premium and Reserved seating sections. Purchase tickets online at www.LakeTahoeShakespeare.com or by calling 800-74-SHOWS (800-747-4697)
