June 20, 2017 at 12:27 PM Forward progress has been stopped. The fire is on California Department of Fish and Wildlife land that the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest has direct protection responsibilities. At this time, no structures are threatened. Resources currently fighting the fire include the Beckwourth Hand Crew, Plumas Interagency Hotshot Crew and other state and federal firefighting resources. Two type 2 helicopters have been dispatched to assist with the fire. The Evans Fire is visible from U.S. Route 395 in a road construction area. Motorist are encouraged to maintain safe speeds for a construction zone and to focus on driving. Slowing down to watch the fire will increase traffic congestion and risk of vehicle accidents.
