Damage assessment teams are in the area conducting evaluations. Power Companies are conducting infrastructure assessment for the feasibility of re-energizing the western portion. There was some increased fire activity today with some windy conditions. Containment levels are progressing slowly as firefighters are dealing with heavy fuels and extremely dry vegetation which has not burned since the early 1960’s.

August 1, 2016 at 7:59 PM

Excessive heat, steep terrain, extremely dry vegetation due to many years of drought, has hampered fire suppression. The fire continues to move to the southeast direction.
