The Airborne Snow Observatory (ASO) makes a stop at Truckee Tahoe Airport in Nevada County, California. The ASO is a private company that contracts with California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) to provide snow measurement data to inform water supply forecasts. Use of the ASO and the data it is capable of collecting is part of DWR’s effort to utilize the latest technology to improve forecasting models. Photo taken December 10, 2021.
