During the night of Tuesday, August 4, to Wednesday, August 5, an aircraft equipped with infrared cameras flew over the fire area to locate remaining hot spots. Infrared detection flights are conducted at night because there is a greater contrast between hot areas of smoldering brush or stumps and the cooler ground than during the daytime. Today, Wednesday, August 5, crews and equipment will use maps developed from the infrared detection flight to find remaining hot spots and make sure they are put out.

Residents in the Red Rock area should continue to expect to see firefighters, vehicles and equipment along Red Rock Road as firefighters continue to patrol the fire perimeter. There are no road closures or delays in place. Highway 395 remains open and unaffected by the fire today.
