April 9, 2019 – On the afternoon of April 9th, 2019, 73 year-old James Sims, of Penn Valley, was arrested for continuous sexual abuse of child under the age of 14. The investigation was initiated by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office where the initial report was disclosed. A joint investigation has been taking place for several weeks between both Washoe and Nevada County Sheriff’s Offices. During this time, detectives were able to confirm Sims had been sexually abusing his grandchild over the past 2 years. The abuse had taken place at a residence in the state of Nevada and at Sims’ residence in Penn Valley, Ca.
