March 15, 2019 – Hello Neighbors and NID Customers.  I am Ricki Heck, your elected representative on the NID Board of Directors representing the greater Nevada City area and parts of Grass Valley.

On February 13, 2019, the Nevada Irrigation Board of Directors voted 3-2 to move forward with the rate increase process, I was one of the two members voting NO on the proposed rate increases.   I have arranged to have a public town hall meeting in the Division I serve.  It is scheduled to be at the Board of Supervisors chambers in the Rood Center, Wednesday evening, April 3rd at 6:00 pm. This meeting is in addition to the meeting scheduled on March19th, at NID’s headquarters.  NID staff and consultants will be present at both meetings to answer questions and provide a presentation on the purpose and reasoning for the proposed change as well as the process to protest the rate increase for those who wish to do so.

In the meantime, folks can go to NID’s website, here’s the link: https://nidwater.com/water-rates-information/.  The link will provide you with more information.  I will be at both forums, and hope to see a robust attendance. If you’d like to contact me, an email is best. I can be reached at division1@nidwater.com .

One reply on “Additional Public Forum on NID rate increase on April 3rd”

  1. This is an example of the leadership Director Heck is demonstrating as a member of the NID board. She and Director Peters told the other board members and staff that they could not and would not support the proposed rate increases without the board and staff reviewing the budget and making judicious cuts to reduce the need for substantial increases in the rates. The other board members and staff didn’t consider review of the staff prepared/board rubber stamped budget before recommending the rate increases.
I urge residents and customers of NID to become informed and to support Director Heck in her efforts to reduce the cost of operations in order to keep rates at affordable levels.
