NEVADA CITY, Calif. February 22, 2018 – An alleged burglary suspect was shot by Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies after a car chase ending near Echo Drive off Gracie Road in Nevada City. According to preliminary reports, the alleged suspect attempted to ram the sheriff’s vehicle while fleeing from the scene of a home invasion/burglary.

The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody after a car chase through the residential neighborhood. Grass Valley Engine 2, Prevention 1, Engine 89, Sierra Nevada Ambulance and CHP H-20 helicopter assisted law enforcement with patient transport. The landing zone for the helicopter was at Station 2 on Sierra College Drive in Grass Valley.

CHP Helicopter H20 landed at Station 2 on Sierra College Blvd in Grass Valley to transport the patient to Sutter Roseville Trauma Center. Due to inclement weather, CHP’s ship was the only one capable of flying, regular air ambulances had to decline transport.

No officers were injured during the chase or the shooting. The identity of the alleged burglar is being withheld at this time.
