LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (Placer County) from the Interstate 80/State Route 49 interchange to Dry Creek Road: Construction began June 17, 2019 on a $42.4 million project in Auburn. The project will rehabilitate existing pavement and drainage, improve operational features and upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled this week.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Auburn Road to Alta Sierra Drive: Vegetation work is beginning for a $4.3 million safety improvement project on State Route 49 near Round Valley Road and Quail Creek Drive. Caltrans is constructing a two-way left turn lane with an increased 8-foot-wide southbound shoulder. Major construction work is expected in spring 2021. This project is currently in winter suspension.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Interstate 80 westbound on-ramp at Atlantic Street: A $12 million on-ramp widening project, in cooperation with the City of Roseville Public Works Department, is expanding the width of the existing Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound on‐ramp to include three lanes and replacing the existing Miner’s Ravine Bridge to support the newly widened roadway. The project will reduce significant traffic queuing and improve the operations of local streets and intersections. Major construction is expected to begin March 3.

April 12 – April 16

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Interstate 80 westbound on-ramp at Atlantic Street: Westbound motorists may expect a full on-ramp closure from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday morning for heavy equipment transportation. 

Interstate 80 (Placer/Nevada Counties) between Alta and Floriston: A $6.6 million structure maintenance project will replace polyester concrete overlays and joint seals on 11 bridges. The project will extend the life of the bridge decks by sealing them off to moisture and fix rutting in the concrete overlays caused by heavy freight and vehicle travel. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled this week.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Crystal Springs to Cisco Grove: A $57 million project will replace four Interstate 80 bridge overcrossings in Placer County: Crystal Springs, Baxter, Drum Forebay and Cisco Grove. All overcrossings are being widened to include 8-foot shoulders, a 6-foot sidewalk and will include ramps that comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

April 12 – April 16

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Baxter to Drum Forebay: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for tree removal and striping work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Cisco Grove: Motorists may expect lane, shoulder and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Farad to the Acid Flat Bridge: A $12.9 million Farad Ditch Slope Stabilization project will restore the Farad Ditch by extending the collection area. Construction will also include regrading of the slope by means of roadway excavation, rock excavation, and controlled blasting. This project is currently in winter suspension.

State Route 174 (Nevada County) from Maple Way to You Bet Road: A $27.1 million safety improvement project will realign several curves, widen shoulders, add a southbound left turn pocket at Greenhorn Access Road and improve the clear recovery zone, allowing errant vehicles to regain control. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled this week.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at Mill Street: Motorists may expect shoulder and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at Idaho Maryland Road: Motorists may expect shoulder and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at Brunswick Road: Motorists may expect shoulder and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) at the Washington Street undercrossing: Motorists may expect shoulder and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) at McKnight Way: Motorists may expect partial ramp and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Cherry Creek Drive to beginning of the passing lanes: Southbound motorists may expect intermittent lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for utility work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Old Downieville Highway to Crooked Arrow Lane: Motorists may expect shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Marysville Road in Yuba County to the Caltrans Downieville Maintenance station in Sierra County: Motorists may expect intermittent one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for ditch cleaning.

State Route 65 (Placer County) from the Interstate 80 separation to Stanford Ranch Road/Galleria Boulevard: Motorists may expect intermittent shoulder and median closures from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday for a sweeping operation.

State Route 65 (Placer County) at Galleria Boulevard/Stanford Ranch Boulevard: Motorists may expect intermittent ramp, shoulder, and median closures from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Friday for electrical work. 

Interstate 80 (Sacramento/Placer Counties) from West El Camino Avenue to Cirby Way: Motorists may expect intermittent right shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for electrical work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Riverside Avenue/Auburn Boulevard to Rocklin Road: Motorists may expect intermittent shoulder and median closures from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday for a sweeping operation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Douglas Boulevard: Eastbound motorists may expect a partial ramp closure from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday for utility work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the Gilardi Road Overcrossing to Newcastle: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday morning for electrical work. Motorists may expect a full Newcastle ramp closure from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday morning.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the State Route 193 separation: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday morning for electrical work. Motorists may expect a full ramp closure from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday morning.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the Werner Road overcrossing to Ophir Road: Eastbound motorists may expect a #3 lane and shoulder closure from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Ophir Road: Motorists may expect a right shoulder closure from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday for utility work. Westbound motorists may also expect a full ramp closure from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Elm Avenue Undercrossing: Motorists may expect intermittent lane, shoulder and full ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning for electrical work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Penryn Rock Spring: Motorists may expect intermittent lane, shoulder, and full ramp closures from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday for pavement work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Ophir Road to West Auburn Up: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for guardrail work. 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Route 174 to Long Ravine Bridge: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for guardrail work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Weimar overcrossing: Motorists may expect lane and shoulder closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning for guardrail work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Farad to the Sierra County line: Westbound motorists may expect rolling traffic breaks and minor travel delays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for slope excavation work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) just before Farad: Westbound motorists may expect a #2 lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for construction activities.
