PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT PERIOD TIME EXTENSION: The Original Notice of Availability of a Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) and Notice of Special Public meeting for the Idaho Maryland Mine Project was previously distributed to the public, interested individuals, and public agencies, on January 4, 2022, which started a 60-day public review and comment period. 

This notice is to announce that the public comment period has been extended until Monday, April 4, 2022 at 5:00pm to allow the public a total of 91 days to submit comments. This notice is to also announce that the Special Meeting Public Meeting before the Nevada County Planning Commission has been rescheduled to March 24, 2022. More information is provided below.

The comment period has been extended due to the Winter Storm events in late December into January, which caused Nevada County residents to lose utility power and internet capabilities for an extended period of time.

The Draft EIR (SCH #2020070378) for the Idaho-Maryland Mine Project continues to be available for review and comment. For more information, the Revised Notice of Availability, Draft EIR and other project materials, are now available for public review and download on the Nevada County website at: www.mynevadacounty.com/IMMRise.

A printed copy of the Draft EIR is available for public review at the following locations during normal business hours. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Planning Department highly recommends scheduling an appointment ahead of time to review the Draft EIR.

A Special Public Meeting before the Nevada County Planning Commission will be held on March 24, 2022, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Eric Rood Administration Center, 950 Maidu Avenue, First Floor, Nevada City, CA 95959 to receive comments from public agencies and the public on the adequacy of the Draft EIR. Future notice of public hearings will be provided in accordance with Nevada County noticing requirements.
