November 20, 2020 – Megan Timpany, Executive Director of United Way of Nevada County, has announced she will retire to spend more time with her family at the end of this year. She has led the organization since 2007, beginning her tenure during the economic downturn; she was instrumental in guiding the organization through this challenging time. Thirteen years later, she finds herself retiring amid COVID, where she has worked to move the organization to a more flexible and responsive organization.
In recent years, she led the organization into a new model of program development and implementation in addition to its traditional allocation model. “Nevada County has such a vibrant and dedicated nonprofit community, and it has been an honor to have played a role in so many programs through UWNC’s allocations.” Megan Timpany.
Working with its Partner Network and community organizations, UWNC identifies service gaps within the community and creates collaborations to fill those gaps. Food Access Saturday, The High School Food Pantry, and a bi-annual Free Health Clinic have been implemented due to UWNC’s new model.
“I have learned so much and feel very honored to have been able to lead such a wonderful and forward-thinking organization. The board members, staff, and volunteers have been a joy to work with, and I will miss my work with this great organization.”
Deborah Lewis, a former UWNC Board Member, will serve as the organization’s Interim Executive Director and work with the Board to develop a strategy and model that will support its Partner Network and expand and implement community programs.
