An upper closed low sits over the Pacific Northwest today with slightly warmer than normal temperatures seen across northern California. Valley highs range from 90 to 100 with mountain highs in the upper 60s to around 80 degrees.

A shortwave trough moves across the area tomorrow bringing some high clouds to NorCal with temperatures falling back to below normal Sunday into early next week. Valley highs Monday will top out in the mid-80s in the southern Sacramento Valley to the low 90s in the north. There may be a small chance for an isolated storm around the Lassen NP area Sunday afternoon, but models continue to trend dry and have left this mention out of the forecast at this time. Early to mid next week dry weather will persist.

Extended Discussion (Wednesday through Saturday)

Operational and Ensemble models show general troughing over the eastern Pacific through the extended period. Stable southwest flow aloft should keep CWA dry through the period. Daytime highs start out right around normal on Wednesday then slowly warm through the end of the week as offshore trough lifts slowly northward and height/thickness values rise. Warming trend will be minor, however, with highs next Saturday coming in just a few degrees above normal.
