NEVADA CITY, Calif. November 19, 2018 – The latest update by the Elections Office makes it official, Shannan Moon will be Nevada County’s next Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator. Moon has a 7,609 vote lead with 28,107 votes to her opponent’s Bill Smethers 20,498.
It is mathematically impossible for Moon’s opponent to catch up to her 7,609-vote lead. On November 13, the Elections Office had 19,803 ballots remaining to be counted. This latest update of 16,699 votes brings the number of ballots remaining to be counted down to 3,104.
Nevada County’s voter turnout is up to 76.71% with 52,832 votes counted out of 68,869 registered voters.
