On Saturday, between 1:00 pm and 5:36pm, sixty-one lightning strikes were recorded on the Tahoe National Forest. Fifty-four of these downstrikes were recorded on the Yuba River Ranger District.
Throughout northern California the BLM lightning detection system recorded 255 lightning strikes hitting the ground, 158 on National Forests.

Firefighters will patrol throughout the weekend, both by air and ground.
