
NEVADA CITY, Calif. November 7, 2018 – The countywide runoff race between Captain Shannan Moon and Lieutenant Bill Smethers mirrors the June Primary election where both candidates were in first and second place respectively throughout the evening.
Defeating retired Grass Valley Police Chief John Foster, Moon and Smethers faced off in the contest for Nevada County Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator.
Moon again lead in the first results of the evening with 12,133 votes (55.32%) vs Smethers’ 9,798 votes (44.68%)
She maintained and slightly widened her lead with each update, finishing with 13,985 votes (55.93%) of the 26,956 ballots counted. Smethers garnered 11,019 votes (44.07%) and 1,945 voters did not vote for either candidate. 7 voters voted for both.
