April 2, 2019 – On April 1st, 2019 at approximately 1230 hours, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address in the 14000 block of McCourtney Road, regarding an on-going domestic violence situation. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a 28-year-old female and an 11-year-old girl. During the initial contact it was reported both the woman and child had been held at the residence against their will by the woman’s boyfriend, identified as 29-year-old Elliot Black from Grass Valley.
Mr. Black learned the Sheriff’s Office was notified and attempted to flee the area. Black was stopped by responding deputies and arrested on McCourtney Road near South Ponderosa Road.
Due to the nature of the allegations in this case, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Search warrants have been sought, evidence has been located, and statements have been taken which support the charges for which Mr. Black has been arrested.

Mr. Black was booked into the Nevada County Jail in Nevada City for the following charges:
1) 206 PC – Torture
2) 207 PC – Kidnapping
3) 273.5 PC – Domestic Violence with Corporal Injury
4) 236 PC – False Imprisonment
5) 273a(a) – PC Child Endangerment
6) 422 PC – Criminal Threats
7) 664/451(a) – Attempted Arson
Mr. Black has a $750,000.00 bail.
