September 27, 2018 – Nevada City Police Officers Association announced their endorsement of Bill Smethers for Nevada County Sheriff. In a written statement from the Association:
The Nevada City Police Officers Association is pleased to announce they have unanimously chosen to offer their endorsement to Lt. Bill Smethers for his candidacy for Nevada County Sheriff.
“Over your career you have continuously demonstrated your true devotion to the wellbeing of the citizens of Nevada County. The endorsements you have received from the men and women of the Nevada County Correctional Officer’s and the Deputy Sheriff’s Associations are a testament of your leadership ability within the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
