Why a special meeting?
During last Wednesday’s regular city council meeting, a discussion ensued about the public health guidance and comments by the mayor. Instead of reading the public comments pertaining to those issues, the council voted to schedule a special meeting. After accommodating everyone’s calendar, Tuesday was picked. The agenda was posted 24 hours ahead of time, including over 400 pages of comments received since.
The comments for the June 24th meeting don’t appear to have been published. We emailed the City Manager requesting copies of those comments and haven’t received a reply as of publication time. It is noteworthy that Nevada City uses a Gmail address to collect public comments instead of an @nevadacityca.gov address. California law requires cities to keep emails for a minimum of two years.
Tomorrow’s meeting will only deal with the city’s stance on the CDPH guidance, not any other issues.
The next regular meeting of the city Council will be on July 8, 2020 at 6:30 pm.
