Nevada City, Calif. – Nevada County Probation, with participation and support from the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, Grass Valley Police Department, Nevada City Police Department, Truckee Police Department, and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, is hosting the 25th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Special Olympics on June 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Eric Rood Center parking lot in Nevada City to help raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Northern California (SONC).
“We’re excited to bring the 25th Annual Torch Run to Nevada County,” said Nevada County’s Chief Probation Officer Jeff Goldman. “It’s a great opportunity for our local public safety agencies to come together and support a cause that allows others an opportunity to realize their full potential.”

About the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Torch Run features more than 3,500 law enforcement personnel from hundreds of local agencies carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope throughout Northern California. The Torch Run will culminate at the annual Summer Games, held this year from June 24-26 at Santa Clara University. The Summer Games is the largest local Special Olympics event and brings together more than 1,000 athletes and coaches from 30+ counties to compete in multiple sports.
The Northern California Torch Run began in 1997 and has raised more than $20 million for the Special Olympics. This year’s 25th-anniversary celebration includes special logos and celebrations throughout the run to honor law enforcement’s continued commitment to Special Olympics athletes. The 25th Annual SONC Law Enforcement Torch Run is sponsored by Toyota.
