NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. May 21, 2021 – Nevada County residents are participating in the free green waste drop off event in record numbers. Today, the first day of the multi-weekend event, at least 543 loads of grass, brush, tree limbs, leaves and needles were dropped off at the Brunswick site. This number far outpaces the 2020 record of 357 loads in a single day.

Through Monday, May 24th, residents can access the site at 12625 Brunswick Rd, Grass Valley, from East Bennett and Millsite Roads, starting at 7:00 am until 3:00 pm each day. This is the first of two weekends slated for western Nevada County. The next one will be June 11-14, 2021.

Volunteers will be on-site to help with traffic flow and check-in. Fire Safe Council of Nevada County staff will also be available to help residents unload their vehicles, as is an Americorps crew.

In Western Nevada County, the Free Residential Green Waste Disposal Program is a partnership between the County of Nevada, Fire Safe Council, and the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District.

Truckee had their first Green Waste drop off event last Friday and 145 loads of vegetation were collected, close to their busiest day in 2020.

But wait, there’s more – Free Mulch

Now that you cleared your property, keep the weeds under control and have your landscaping retain more moisture by mulching. Free mulch will be available to residents on May 28-29, 2021 & June 18-19, 2021 at the Brunswick site.
