GRASS VALLEY, Calif. April 28, 2021 – NID Directors met for their regular meeting today and the first order of business was the appointment of Jennifer Hanson as the district’s new General Manager. The unanimous vote makes Hanson NID’s 15th General Manager, and the first woman to hold that position.
NID is also celebrating their 100-year anniversary in 2021 and Chair Chris Bierwagon highlighted the two momentous occasions in his comments before the Board took the vote.
Starting on June 1st, Hanson will oversee more than 200 employees and an annual budget of about $80 million. She is looking forward to the new position and previewed her leadership style, saying “I’m a democratic leader and also more of a team coach. I definitely think that the staff is the bones of NID and they have an excellent staff. I’m going to just continue to implement the board’s policy direction and rely on excellent staff.”
