GRASS VALLEY, Calif. November 28, 2018 – On Wednesday, Dec. 5 around 9:30 a.m., Nevada Irrigation District (NID) and the Grass Valley Police Department (GVPD) will conduct an active shooter simulation drill at NID’s Business Center, located at 1036 West Main Street in Grass Valley. This live simulation is important safety training for both NID employees and for the GVPD.

All services at NID’s main offices will be interrupted during the drill. Please avoid the facilities from 9-10:30 a.m. while the drill is ongoing. The training will include a law enforcement presence.

There will be signage in the area to alert neighboring businesses and visitors of the drill. In addition, fire and other first responders, as well as the school district, will be notified in advance.

The drill is part of the District’s Emergency Action Plan, required by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (better known as Cal/OSHA) to help NID be aware of and prepare in the event of an active shooter situation. A well-rehearsed, coordinated response could save lives and ensure the safety of employees and the public during an actual emergency.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we conduct this important safety training.
