GRASS VALLEY, Calif. February 14, 2018 – NID’s Board of Directors today voted to not appeal a decision by the California Water Commission (CWC.)  According to state technical reviewers of the application submitted by the Nevada Irrigation District (NID), Centennial Dam has a public benefit ratio of zero.

The Foothills Water Network, after the CWC decision, wrote a letter to the NID Board requesting “NID to pull the CWC application and demonstrate fiscal responsibility by not expending further resources in pursuit of the Proposition 1 funding.”

Tracy Sheehan, Coordinator for the Network, presented FWN’s position and Director Scott Miller made the motion to not appeal the decision. Miller said previously the board directed staff to add a clause to the application that prevented any water sale outside of the district.

After discussion between the directors and public comment, the board voted unanimously to not appeal the decision.
