As of today, 46,006 doses of vaccine have been administered to Nevada County residents an increase of 1,166 since yesterday. This total includes first and second doses.

A weather system passing to the east will bring a slight cool down early this week along with breezy north to east winds. Winds will increase this morning, with the strongest Valley winds expected this afternoon, and the strongest mountain winds tonight into Tuesday morning. Additional strong winds in the Valley may be seen tomorrow afternoon, particularly around the Delta region. High pressure moves back over Northern California mid-week bringing back high temperatures anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees above normal.

A system passing to our east will bring a cool down for the start of next week and will also bring breezy north and east winds on Monday and Tuesday. Quiet weather returns for the middle part of next week with warm temperatures building back in.

March 27, 2021 at 8:36 AM The Smartsville Fire Protection District will be conducting fire district training at the Rose Bar School Site in the community of Smartsville. The training will include vehicle extrication and vehicle fire training. We will be setting the donated vehicles on fire to allow our volunteers an opportunity to gain experience in extinguishing them in a controlled environment. The Training will begin at 9:00 am and continue to around 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 27. Smoke will be visible from Hwy 20 between the Parks Bar Bridge and Pet Hill.

The heaviest rain and snow is expected Friday night into Saturday morning with mountain travel impacts likely. We will also see breezy southerly winds develop Friday afternoon and continue into Friday night with the strongest winds expected over the Sacramento Valley. We will see more clouds than sun today though as a system passes to our south and that will also bring an isolated snow shower chance to the high Sierra over Tuolumne County this afternoon into the evening. Valley rain showers and mountain snow return to the area Friday night and will continue into at least the first part of Saturday. This does not look like a very wet system but will likely still see some mountain travel impacts from it. Things dry out for the second half of Saturday and dry weather will continue into Sunday.
