October 20, 2016 – The Nevada County Board of Supervisors joined the “Live United” movement as they once again proclaimed the month of October as “United Way of Nevada County campaign kick-off month”. All were in recognition of the start of United Way of Nevada County’s 2016 Annual Campaign. The Board of Supervisors sponsored the countywide resolution at the Nevada County regular meeting on Tuesday, October 11th.  The proclamation addresses the vision and work of United Way, which strives to mobilize the “caring power” of the community to improve lives in Nevada County.

“We’re honored to receive this proclamation but more importantly, we hope that it serves as an inspiration for our community to get more involved. I invite everyone who works, lives or plays in Nevada County to be a part of improving lives in our community ”, said Megan Timpany, Executive Director of United Way.

United Way of Nevada County is currently focusing their efforts on the Basic Needs of the community, specifically in the impact areas of Food, Access to Health Care and Emergency Shelter. United Way of Nevada County’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. United Way of Nevada County envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their desired potential through healthy lives, education and income stability.

Any business that is interested in getting involved with the 2016-2017 United Way campaign should contact the United Way office at (530) 274-8111. This is a great way to encourage employees to give back to the community either to United Way or to a 501(c)(3) non-profit of their choice. All monies raised from the United Way campaign for the Community Impact Fund stay local, and go towards meeting the needs of our local community in the areas of Food, Emergency Shelter and Access to health care.
