February 2, 2018 – On February 2, 2018 at approximately 11:52 hours, 65-year-old Hamar Ashley of Nevada City, was traveling westbound on SR-20 just west of ldaho-Maryland Road in a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup at an unknown high rate of speed.

Mr. Ashley exited the freeway at the East Main Street exit (at Idaho-Maryland Road), still at a high rate of speed, and lost control of the pickup, and subsequently rolled the pickup several times.

Mr. Ashley was reported to have a seatbelt on. 69-year-old Billy Shawn of Nevada City, was seated in the passenger seat of the pickup without a seatbelt on.

Mr. Shawn became ejected from the vehicle during the collision. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, he was transported by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Hospital with major injuries.

Mr. Ashley was transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Roseville with minor injuries. It is undetermined at this point if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
