NEVADA CITY, Calif. June 19, 2018 – Voter turnout in Nevada County now stands at 54.37% with 36,981 votes counted. This latest update only leaves a handful of conditional votes to be counted. There are 68,023 registered voters in Nevada County.

The local measures fared well:

  • Measure D passes with 63.50%
  • Measure E passes with 60.06%
  • Measure F passes with 83.95%

The Nevada City Council race is still very close for the second seat, only 2 votes separate Evans Phelps and Erin Minett.

District Attorney Cliff Newell will be serving another term, edging out challenger Glenn Jennings by 452 votes.

Captain Shannan Moon and Lieutenant Smethers will face off in November for the Sheriff’s position.

Dan Miller won reelection even though at the latest count his lead shrunk to 165 votes.

Statewide offices – Nevada County results

Gavin Newsom won the Governor’s primary in Nevada County with 12,406 votes. John Cox came in second place with 9,344 votes.

Eleni Kounalakis won the Lieutenant Governor’s primary with 10,417 votes, followed by Cole Harris with 6,028 votes.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla won in Nevada County with 15,912 votes, Mark Meuser came in second with 12,588 votes.

Betty Yee is the top vote-getter in the Controller’s primary with 19,235 votes over Konstantinos Roditis with 13,537 votes.

Fiona Ma garnered 13,667 votes in the primary race for State Teasurer, followed by Jack Guerrero with 8,418 votes.

Attorney General Xavier Becerra is in the top spot with 14,283 votes to Steven Bailey’s 11,846 votes.

Tom Hallinan vote the most votes for a seat on the Board of Equalization in the primary with 15,089 votes to Ted Gaines’ 13,771.

Brian Dahle, the only Republican winner in the statewide contests in Nevada County, garnered 17,651 votes for the State Assembly seat. Caleen Sisk came in second with 11,649 votes in Nevada County

Federal contests – Nevada County results

In the House of Representatives District 1 race, Doug LaMalfa so far received 13,597 votes from Nevada County voters. In second place, Audrey Denney garnered 5,923 votes.

In the House of Representatives District 4 race, Nevada County voters favored Jessica Morse by 2,297 votes with incumbent Tom McClintock coming in second with 1,063 votes.
