AUBURN, CABriarPatch Food Co-op is proud to offer Breaking the Mold, a wine and cheese tasting to celebrate American Cheese Month. The event features sampling of five hand-selected pairings from members of our culinary team and expert wine and cheese vendors.

May is American Cheese Month, a grassroots celebration of North America’s artisan and specialty cheeses, and through this event BriarPatch is celebrating the artisan makers across the country who put all the love into making some of the world’s best cheese (Move over, France!).  

We’ll milk the evening for all it’s worth, sampling five delicious cheeses from our famed ‘Cheese Island’ expertly paired with five U.S.-based wines by Amanda Simpson of Serendipity Wines, one of our favorite distributors. 

Fromage enthusiasts from the BriarPatch culinary team will walk attendees through a journey from creamy and smooth to rich and blue, with lots to savor in between. Attendees will take home their own wine glass as a fun memento of the evening.

American Cheese Month celebrates the entire community that helps bring cheese to the table, and in that spirit, BriarPatch is donating a portion of the proceeds to the California Farmer Justice Collaborative. The CFJC’s mission is to build a fair food system, challenge historic racism and oppression, and regrow agriculture with farmers of color at the center and directing its course. In 2017, CFJC worked to pass the Farmer Equity Act, adding a definition of Socially Disadvantaged Farmer and Rancher to the California Food and Agriculture Code.
