Brownsville, CA – Yuba County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is hosting its 4th annual ‘Be Prepared Fair’ to share emergency resources with foothill residents ahead of wildfire season.

The event will take place Thursday, May 16, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ponderosa Community Center, located at 17103 Ponderosa Way, Brownsville, CA.

Over 30 local and state agencies will be hosting booths to chat with residents and answer questions about preparedness. There will also be a go-bag creation station with starter items for building or improving emergency go-bags. Additionally, emergency vehicles and equipment—including fire engines, sheriff vehicles, and a helicopter—will be on display for adults and children.

“Our goal for the ‘Be Prepared Fair’ is to create a casual, family-friendly event where residents can speak face-to-face with those who keep our communities safe,” said Yuba County OES Manager Oscar Marin. “While the children are off exploring the fire engines, parents can get their questions answered by our sheriff, firefighters and folks from other emergency response agencies.”

For hungry attendees, food trucks will have dinner, snacks, and dessert available for purchase. There will also be community-donated door prizes, such as fire extinguishers and a weed eater.

“With the food, prizes and invaluable safety resources, this isn’t an event to miss,” said Marin.
