Chinese believe the lions will preserve peace and tranquility in the community and prevail over all evil to bring joy and happiness to the community. For the first time, a Chinese dragon will visit Weaverville to celebrate the temple’s anniversary and the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. The lion dance and dragon performance will be dependent on good weather. After the lion dance, visitors will be treated to a traditional firecracker display and can enjoy tea tasting and fortune cookies provided by the Weaverville Joss House Association.
