AUBURN, CA – During the month of June 2024, BriarPatch Food Co-op Auburn is hosting the four-part Eating for Health series. Each session is FREE and open to all, and folks can come to just one or all four. Nutrition Consultant Jacqui Meehan will dive deep into four topics of whole food nutrition. Each session includes an intentional food pairing for attendees to enjoy. BriarPatch owners receive a $5 gift card at each session attended.

FOUNDATIONS OF NUTRITION (June 5th): The series kicks off with a general overview of how “Eating for Health” is not a diet, but a lifestyle focused on eating local, organic, seasonal, and unprocessed foods whenever possible.

PROTEIN AND FATS (June 12th): Learn to identify good sources of protein and fat, and why they’re important to incorporate into your food. We’ll also discuss which fats are poorer choices.

CARBOHYDRATES (June 19th): This session focuses on macronutrients and explores how carbohydrates are one of the primary fuels for our bodies.

ALLERGY FREE EATING (June 26th): In this final session, we’ll discuss common food triggers for allergies and what symptoms might be caused by these allergies. Attendees will also come away with options for a hypoallergenic diet.

Say Katee Gustavson, BriarPatch Food Co-op Community Engagement Coordinator: “The Eating for Health series is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn how to make more informed food choices. The price is right (free!), and registration is open to all. BriarPatch is looking forward to partnering with Nutrition Consultant Jacqui Meehan for this event.”
