Grass Valley, California, June 14, 2024 – In June of every year, thousands of people across the globe take action to improve their communities by volunteering with their local United Way. In 37 countries and territories across the world, United Way creates meaningful volunteering that makes it easy for people and organizations to tackle some of the problems facing their local communities. This year, United Way of Nevada County (UWNC) will hold a Day of Action for the local community on June 22nd.
โNevada County has amazing nonprofit organizations doing such important work. Our volunteers are eager to support them however we can” said Louise Reed, UWNC Executive Director.
This yearโs Day of Action includes projects for Community Beyond Violence (cbv.org), Interfaith Food Ministry (interfaithfoodministry.org), Sundance Horse Rescue (sundancehorserescue.org) and Gold Country Senior Services (goldcountryservices.org).

UWNC is partnering with the Mankind Project (ncal.mkpusa.org) to provide additional parking and add some yard maintenance to the safe house run by Community Beyond Violence and is teaming up with the 49er Rotary of Nevada City (49errotary.org) to add landscaping to Gold Country Senior Servicesโ brand new Senior Community Center.
The Sundance Horse Rescue in Penn Valley will be getting a new hay shed and the floors at Interfaith Food Ministry will be getting a good cleaning and sealing. Volunteer opportunities are still available for these two projects. If you would like to join in or learn more about UWNCโs Day of Action 2024, you can sign up at uwnc.org/day-of-action-1.
BriarPatch Co-op is providing coffee and breakfast treats to all volunteers and will be giving double Patchwork hours to all BriarPatch owners who volunteer for this event.
โWe are so grateful to all the community members who have helped pull this together and all the volunteers who will make this yearโs Day of Action truly special,โ said Reed.
