As parents and citizens, we need to work to both create these opportunities and prepare our children to take advantage of them. As a trustee, I will ensure that district affairs are transparent to parents and support a curriculum that emphasizes practical and vocational skills in addition to key academics. As a young man I had apprenticeship opportunities in various trades, and they provided me with the toolset I used to achieve professional success.
California and Nevada County are becoming places with diminishing prospects for young people and families, but we have the ability to help reverse this trend by getting the students of Penn Valley a useful education that will prepare them for great achievements as they enter adulthood.
