Grass Valley, CA – At least two suspects remain at large following an incident that began last night. At 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 27, the Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call that a driver was reportedly being shot at and followed by at least two male suspects with firearms in a red four-door hatchback. The incident began in the vicinity of the 10000 block of Sundown Place in Grass Valley.

Due to the seriousness of the call, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), along with the Grass Valley Police Department (GVPD) and the California Highway Patrol, all immediately responded.

Shortly after the 911 call came in, a GVPD officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the area of Plaza Drive and Timberland Drive. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle fled, and a pursuit ensued. The driver of the vehicle ended up crashing on Idaho-Maryland Road near Greenstone Court. The suspects fled before contact could be made.

The search for the suspects continued with partner agencies; NCSO also requested support from Placer County Sheriff’s Office, who responded to help with the search. A subsequent CodeRED alert was issued by NCSO to residents in the area to alert them that an active search was underway.

Several residents who received the CodeRED began calling 911 with reported possible suspect sightings in the area, all of which were searched by the respective teams to no avail.

By 4:06 a.m., Aug. 28, the suspects had not been located. This case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Regional Dispatch Center at (530) 265-7880.
