Nevada City, CA – Get ready for an action-packed, adrenaline-fueled weekend with two after hours events at the Madelyn Helling Library. On Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5, the library is trading in its usual quiet for a raucous, unforgettable weekend of literary mayhem featuring free live music and professional wrestling.

Friday, Oct. 4: Library Punk Show

Library Punk Show Oct 4

The weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 4, with a punk rock show headlined by Chico-based bands LEVEL and Sedition. Supporting them are local favorites Arรผspex and Intellectual Decay, promising a night of raw, unapologetic punk sound.

This all-ages event is free and open to the public, making it a great opportunity for punk fans to enjoy a night of music at no cost. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7.

Saturday, Oct. 5: SLAM IN THE STACKS

Slam in the Stacks

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the library will transform into an arena for SLAM IN THE STACKS, a pro wrestling event presented by Sacramentoโ€™s Ugly Dojo Pro Wrestling Company. Get ready for body slams, high-flying moves and intense matchups as wrestlers take over the library for an evening of bone-crunching excitement!

This free all-ages event is perfect for wrestling fans or just library fans, young and old. Doors open at 6 p.m., wrestling starts at 7 p.m.

Donโ€™t miss this rare opportunity to experience both live punk music and professional wrestling in a library setting, completely free of charge. Although the library has previously hosted punk shows with great success, drawing large audiences, this will be the first pro wrestling event at a library in Nevada County.

“Why wrestling at the library, you may ask? We want our libraries to function as community centers as much as they function as information hubs!โ€ says Adult Programming Librarian, Ian Boalt. By doing free and fun events, we hope to engage with community members who may not have visited the library in a while. This gives them the opportunity to enjoy the space and see everything else we have to offer.โ€ Whether youโ€™re into pulse-pounding guitar riffs or ringside action, this weekend of literary mayhem promises to be a thrilling experience for everyone.
