Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this year on December 3. It encourages people and organizations to donate their time and money to charitable causes as a way to counterbalance the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

As both the Director of Nevada County’s Health and Human Services Agency, and a Board Member of the Center for Non-Profit Leadership, I see this firsthand. The work we do at the county, whether it’s providing mental health treatment or reducing wildfire danger, is only possible because of the strength of our non-profit sector.
