At 7:30AM, the closed section of the Sunset Fire, area North of Franklin, will be OPEN and all evacuation orders LIFTED. We will still have LAFD companies working in the area and ask you to be careful while returning to your homes.
The majority of the Evacuation Zone for the Sunset Fire is lifted with the exception of the area North of Franklin Ave from Camino Palmero St (East border) to North Sierra Bonita Ave. (West border). This area remains CLOSED until tomorrow morning due to continued LAFD operations ensuring no flare ups in the vegetation surrounding these streets. Residents are asked to be cautious when returning to their homes because firefighters are continuing to work in their neighborhoods.

Spot weather forecast for the fire: Winds are shifting to a more northerly direction tonight into early Thursday, with gusts to 25 mph expected through the canyons and gusts up to 35 mph over the nearby ridges. Humidities in the area are currently in the lower teens, with overnight recoveries expected to be poor, under 30 percent. Minimum humidities will drop into the lower teens again on Thursday, but winds will diminish significantly.
