Nevada County Camera Club photographers will be taking photos of western Nevada County from February 7-16, 2025, to display at the exhibit and photo challenge “Gold Country on Camera” at the Courtyard Suites in Grass Valley later in April.   “This is the seventh year of this photo challenge and exhibit.  Its purpose is to inspire members to experiment with their photography and be more creative while capturing the many moods of Nevada County,” stated Mike Oitzman, president of Nevada County Camera Club.

The photos for this challenge will all be taken during the week of 2/7-16.  “Each participant will be assigned a photo zone; most of which will be in commercial/business areas, although some will overlap into residential neighborhoods.  If you see photographers in your neighborhood at odd hours during this week, chances are they will be part of this event.  All will be carrying a business card identifying them as a participant in this photo challenge.  Please feel free to ask them for their credentials if you are concerned,” continued Oitzman.

This photo challenge encourages members to be more imaginative, try new photographic techniques and find new perspectives.  Using early morning light, creating composites, adding texture layers or taking multiple exposures are all encouraged.  There are no rules other than participants must take their photos within their specific zone during the week of the photo shoot.

The resulting exhibit will be celebrated at the Courtyard Suites, 210 North Auburn Blvd, Grass Valley from April 5-30.  All are invited to attend the opening reception on April 5, for refreshments, awards and to view the resulting photographic creations.  “This is the one exhibit sponsored by the club where we encourage members to integrate their many other talents and ‘maker’ skills.  It is the most inspiring, unique, and eclectic gallery showing of the year,” concluded Oitzman.
