“Patrick brings a strong skill set and a deep understanding of both the public sector and our community, which will allow him to hit the ground running as we begin planning around the Board’s policy direction for 2025 and our next fiscal year,” said County Executive Officer Alison Lehman.

Eidman has deep local roots as a fourth-generation resident and a graduate of Nevada Union High School, born in Grass Valley.

He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nevada County Fairgrounds from 2018 to 2021 and as the Deputy Manager before that. During his time there, he worked closely with the County, especially when the Fairgrounds served as an evacuation and emergency staging area during multiple wildfire events. Eidman is also a 2018 graduate of the County’s Citizen Academy.

Eidman looks forward to contributing to the community in his new position. “I am deeply humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve in this role,” he said. “I’m excited to apply my experience to important issues like housing, community resilience, and economic resilience.

This is especially meaningful to me as it allows me to give back to Nevada County, the place I call home.”

He brings 28 years of experience across private, nonprofit and public sectors in California and Colorado. Since 2021, Eidman has held the position of Chief Preservation Officer and Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer for History Colorado, where he oversaw around 40 employees and managed approximately $20 million of the organization’s $40 million budget.

Prior to his roles at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, he administered a grant program focused on supporting forest health and community resiliency projects at the Sierra Nevada Conservancy.

Eidman earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Sonoma State University, with an emphasis on City and Regional Planning. In addition to over a decade of public sector experience, he has been active in the agricultural community in Nevada County since childhood, showing sheep in FFA and serving on the Board of the Nevada County Farm Bureau and the Western Fairs Association in his adult years.

He is currently moving back to Grass Valley from Colorado with his two dogs, Shade, an Australian shepherd, and Skylar, a charcoal labrador.
