March 29, 2025 – A brief lull in activity is expected today with dry weather across the area. The next storm system will arrive on Sunday and continue into Tuesday evening, with widespread rain and heavy mountain snow. Another system arrives late Tuesday night and continues into Friday morning, though uncertainty in details remains.

Sunday – Tuesday: This system has trended stronger overnight; with increased snow amounts.

Winter storm Watch for Sunday through Tuesday

We have issued a Winter Storm Watch for elevations above 4000 feet from 11 PM Sunday – 11 PM Tuesday. 1-3 feet of snow, with 4 feet possible at highest peaks. Snow levels are forecast to fall to around 3000 feet early Tuesday morning, with around 1-4 inches possible.

Valley rain remained relatively unchanged, with Minor impacts expected.

Thunderstorm chances in the afternoon/evenings; best chance on Monday, April 1. Around a 10% chance of an isolated afternoon evening thunderstorm is possible, with the around 10-20% chance on Monday. Highest chances in the northern Sacramento Valley, NE foothills, and in the mountains.

Gusty southerly winds on Sunday and Monday. Overall Minor Impacts expected; best chances (50-80%) in the northern Sac Valley on Sunday, similar probabilities on Monday for the same locations for gusts greater than 40 mph.

Wednesday – Friday: This system has trended slightly weaker; however at least Moderate Snow impacts in the mountains are still expected. Rain totals/probabilities fell overnight for the Valley as well.
