NEVADA CITY, California – Celebrate Earth Month with the Earth Fest Street Fair on Sunday, April 13 from 11am-5pm in downtown Nevada City. Now in its fourth year, Earth Fest continues to grow with a sold-out vendor line-up and numerous new activities. The event aims to inform and inspire all who attend to learn about environmental issues, and to identify solutions to climate change in a family-friendly atmosphere.
The event will showcase 65+ vendors including SYRCL, Bear Yuba Land Trust, Nevada County, the Tahoe National Forest, the California College of Ayurveda, and many more. Additionally, there will be retail and food vendors offering environmentally friendly goods including a native plant sale, locally crafted clothing, solar, eco-wares, and more. The electric vehicle car and bike show hosted by Nevada County Climate Action Now is one of the key attractions. Attendees can tour the vehicles and learn directly from the vehicle owners about their experiences.
A packed line-up will include live music and special performances, featuring Artemis Arthur & The Band as the headliners. Haute Trash will host a fashion show featuring designs made completely from upcycled trash. Bring the kids! There are numerous kids’ activities including a bounce house, face painting, and special performances.
A special panel discussion, From Wildfires to Renewable Energy, hosted by Sierra Energy Reimagined will take place at City Hall at 1pm. Attendees will learn how to address the challenges of climate change and help restore forest health. While you’re in town be sure to stop by the Miner’s Foundry for the 35th annual Psychic Fair. This year’s fair offers attendees an array of vendors including psychics, medical intuitives, acupuncturists, massage therapists, herbalists, and alchemists.
Earth Fest is a zero/low-waste event. A unique feature of the event is the bio-digester demonstration unit provided by 3 Suns Farms, which turns waste into energy and nutrient-rich char. Attendees will be able to walk through the unit to see it in action and take-home char samples. Waste Management along with the event “Green Team” will be on site to provide recycling and composting services and education. Walk or ride your bike if you are able. Attendees are encouraged to bring reusable bottles, utensils, and bags to the event to prevent waste.
