NEVADA CITY, Calif. May 27, 2025 – Today’s Nevada County Board of Supervisors’ agenda contained a Proclamation proclaiming the month of June as Nevada County Pride Month. District 2 Supervisor Robb Tucker pulled the item from consent and said this resolution specifically shouldn’t be on the consent portion of the agenda. “I just don’t know if these symbolic resolutions that are somewhat controversial is what we should be doing here at the county.” He abstained on the vote that passed 4-0.

To be clear, Supervisor Tucker absolutely has the right to vote for or against any item on the agenda. In fact, it’s the job he was elected to do. So why abstain? That is inconsistent with the position he articulated this morning. If he believes a proclamation is inappropriate, misguided or not consistent with his values, take a stand and vote against it.

Some of the “symbolic resolutions” Supervisor Tucker voted on since the five months he’s been in office:

  • Resolution proclaiming February 11 as โ€œ211 Dayโ€ in Nevada County
  • Resolution proclaiming the month of March 2025 as “Youth Art Month” in Nevada County.
  • Resolution proclaiming February 2025 as “Grand Jury Awareness Month” in Nevada County.
