AUBURN, Calif. – CAL FIRE Nevada, Yuba, Placer Unit (NEU) and Placer County invited the public to NEU headquarters for the inaugural Wildfire Preparedness Expo. Ahead of peak fire season they showcased resources at their disposal to prevent and fight wildfires, from handcrews creating large fuel breaks to water-dropping helicopters.
We caught up with CAL FIRE NEU/Placer County Fire Chief Brian Estes and Placer County District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson who stressed the importance of being prepared and work together – just like the local agencies.
Firefighters, equipment, numerous agencies and non-profit organization were on hand to provide tools, resources and expert insight to help residents better prepare for wildfire season.
Helicopter demonstrations, activities and badges for the little ones, free food and an opportunity to talk to firefighters made for an eventful and informative morning.
