Firefighters are maintaining their work on the north side of the fire where some rollout continues to pose potential spread risks, requiring ongoing monitoring and rapid response to emerging threats. On the southern edge of the fire, mop-up operations are advancing well and transitioning into suppression-repair activities. Suppression-repair is the action of cleaning up any trash and identifying anything that may need to be fixed from the suppression efforts for this fire. The eastern perimeter is being actively patrolled to ensure no heat threatens the established containment lines. Meanwhile, crews are strengthening contingency lines through extensive mastication and road work. Equipment redistribution continues when appropriate in areas of the fire that are well contained.
Swift Complex Resources: 535 personnel
Cedar Fire Overview: Firefighters are reinforcing containment lines while conducting patrols, mop up, gridding, and attacking any hot spots. Crews are also retrieving surplus equipment and resources that are no longer needed to support ongoing wildfire operations elsewhere. Firefighters are working toward the goal of keeping the Cedar Fire in its current footprint and protecting the Trinity Pines area. The Cedar Fire is projected to change command back to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on Tuesday, September 9.
Cedar Fire Resources: 67 personnel
Current Fire Weather: Rain is expected on the fire today, with about 1/2โ of rain expected. There is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. While it will not be enough to completely extinguish the fires, it will help with the suppression. Firefighters will be on the lookout for denser fuels that will still have burn potential during and after the rain.
High temperatures will be in the low-60s with west-southwest winds at 5-10 mph gusting to 20 mph. Relative humidity will be around 60% during afternoon hours, recovering to 75-85% overnight.
Other Updates: The Swift Complex and Cedar Fire supported the Wood Fire yesterday as part of the initial attack and as needed this week by sending resources. Complex incident management teams regularly incorporate this type of planning into their standard operations.

Peak Fire Containment: 21%
Lick Fire Size: 36 acres
Lick Fire Containment: 65%
A gradual cooling trend starts Friday and continues into the weekend. General winds will remain southerly with afternoon RH values 20-30% followed by moderate nighttime recovery 45-55%. Afternoon highs will cool into the upper 7Os to mid 80s Friday and then lower into the 70s over the weekend. An incoming cold front will bring a chance of light rain by Monday.
The next operational shift will focus on completing hand line on the upper portions of the Peak Fire. Current hand lines will be patrolled, grided, and moped up as threats are identified.
Peak Fire: Crews are currently spiking at two locations on both sides of the fire near Grante Ridge. The crews will be completing containment lines and mopping up. Crews and resources are working to improve and mop up lines on the east flank in the Mule Creek Drainage. The south and east flanks will continue to be patrolled and moped up as threats are identified.
Other resources improved contingency lines.
Lick Fire: resources will continue to patrol the containment lines mitigating any threats to containment. Identified hose lays will be removed as conditions warrant.

In addition to the Peak Fire, firefighters with California Interagency Incident Management Team 2 are actively engaged on the Lick Fire, and four small lightning-caused fires in the backcountry of Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Crews are facing challenging conditions with hot material rolling downhill, steep and rugged terrain, and hot, dry weather promoting active fire behavior. Firefighters are continuing their direct attack to keep the Peak Fire within its footprint while crews on the Lick Fire work to get handlines on the edge with support from aircraft including helicopters.
Firefighters are maintaining aggressive full-suppression efforts on all fires and continue making solid progress strengthening both primary and contingency fire lines. More crews and equipment continue to arrive on scene, including helicopters providing critical aerial attack. Aircraft include two Type 1 helicopters, one Type 2 helicopter, and two super scooper aircraft.
Peak Fire Operations: 377 acres, west of Lake Trinity and east of Mule Creek
The direct attack along the eastern perimeter continues with crews holding and strengthening lines. Significant progress was made in advancing hand lines toward the south and firefighters are 600 feet away from connecting the two sides. Crews worked systematically toward the west while tying containment lines into granite formations and connecting into both the main drainage and Mule Creek drainage systems. Firefighters successfully advanced hoseline on the southwest side and established water sources from the creek with water tenders to enhance water supply. A small spot fire started near Mule Creek, but crews were able to get around it.
Lick Fire Operations: 30 acres, in Poison Canyon, southeast of the Carrville community
The Lick Fire was reported at 9:36 AM on August 29, 2025. Crews are working to hold and improve established containment lines around the original fire area and address spot fires on the northwest shoulder. They will also be supported by firefighting aircraft.
Fire Activity: Hot and dry conditions are extending the active burn period beyond normal patterns, with sustained fire behavior occurring daily from 2 PM to 4 AM. Rolling hot materials continue to carry fire downhill and are creating opportunities for rapid uphill runs when conditions align. The Peak Fire has potential to increase its rate of spread, with particular concern that flames could advance beyond the natural barrier of Mule Creek. However, favorable southwest winds have aided suppression efforts by helping to slow the fire’s progression to the south and west, providing firefighters with improved opportunities to strengthen lines in those areas.
Fire Weather: Temperatures will reach the mid-70s above 6,500 feet to mid-80s at the 4,500-foot range. Winds will be light upslope throughout the afternoon hours with gusts around 12 MPH. Relative humidity will be 12-18% during the day with poor overnight humidity recovery. Tuesday and Wednesday bring a chance of thunderstorms and potential lightning risks. Firefighters will be on the lookout for new fire starts.

The fire is currently burning in an area characterized by dense, multi-aged timber and a significant amount of dead and downed wood. There has been no recorded history of fires in this location for the past 100 years. The Granite Peak ridge system and Bowerman Meadows are expected to act as natural barriers, preventing the fire from spreading to the west. Downhill Southwest from the fire area is privately managed timberland that is actively maintained.
Fire has experienced minimal growth, primarily in the area along the southern flank, as well as, growth of spot fires to the west of the main fire perimeter. Primary fire behavior is backing and spotting due to roll out assisted by the steep terrain of the fire area. While single tree torching is still observable, it is happening with less frequency than previous operation periods.
Shasta-Trinity National Forest firefighters are actively engaged in the Peak Fire, located southeast of the Granite Peak summit and west of Trinity Lake.

Fire Activity: The fire, which started Monday afternoon, is estimated at 200 acres and is burning in steep, rugged, and remote terrain and is moving north toward Granite Peak. Most of the fire is currently within the Trinity Alps Wilderness.
Fire Weather: Thunderstorms are possible in the coming days. With these storms comes the possibility of lightning and high outflow winds. These conditions could contribute to new fires and increased fire activity.
Fire Operations: Firefighters are engaged in a full-suppression strategy, with four engines, a dozer, two handcrews and aerial resources committed to the fire, with more resources on order.
Public Safety: Recreators are asked to stay away from trails and trailheads in the Long Canyon, Four Lakes Loop, Stoney Ridge, Stuart Fork, Swift Creek and Granite Peak, as these will be primary access routes for firefighters. Please be advised that there will be increased fire traffic to and from Clark Springs Campground.
