Work continues on the City of Grass Valley’s Downtown Street Rehabilitation Project through the month of September. The following is a status update and outlook for the next two weeks of construction:
The southernmost entrance to the Union Square public parking lot from S Auburn St was reopened.
The northern entrance was recently poured in concrete and will be reopened on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Bank St between the parking lot exit driveway and S Auburn St, will be closed for construction of underground storm drainage facilities at the intersection. This work is expected to last 2 days.
Concrete sidewalk reconstruction will proceed down the remainder of the west side of S Auburn St, between Bank St and Main St over the next two weeks and is expected to be completed on September 12, 2025.
Subsequent phases of construction will continue with planned concrete work on Main St towards the middle of September. A future update will be provided once the contractor’s schedule is solidified.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION ALERT
EFFECTIVE DATE(S): August 29th through September 12th, 2025
S Auburn St, between Main St and Neal St will be subject to traffic control for underground utility line work September 1 through September 12, 2025.
The Traffic Control System will utilize one way traffic control intermittently between the hours of 4:00 AM and 12:00 AM. Every effort will be made to accommodate motorists in a timely manner; however, delays of up to 5 minutes may be possible.
