The Salt Fire continues to burn actively in extremely steep and challenging terrain. The fire is well-established, fueled by dry grass at lower elevations, and a mix of grass and brush at mid-elevations. At the highest elevation, the fire is burning through grass, oak woodland, and pine. The heaviest grass loading is in the upper elevations of the fire.
Early Friday morning, winds began to moderate and relative humidity increased. A cooling trend is expected to continue through the weekend, which will assist our suppression efforts. Firefighters are making good progress on building and reinforcing control lines.

The fire is located in a remote area with difficult access; running upslope in alignment with both the terrain and wind, and steep conditions are making containment challenging, requiring significant augmentation of both air and ground resources.
