Tail wagging delight! National Dog Week September 21-27 climaxes with the 2nd Annual “Paws and A Cause” Community Event on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Hosted by Nevada City Rotary, the celebration will kick off at 1:00 pm with a parade in Pioneer Park, Nevada City.  

A line up of dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities will be strutting their stuff in the opening WestMuttster Parade.  Dog (and pals) costumes are encouraged but not required.

This family-friendly celebration brings together animal lovers, local businesses, pet service providers, and rescue organizations for an unforgettable afternoon of community spirit and furry festivities.

Special Guest Appearance

Lassie lovers — get ready for a dose of nostalgia! We’re thrilled to welcome Jon Provost, the original Timmy from the beloved TV series Lassie. Don’t miss your chance to meet  and greet a television legend and lifelong advocate for animals.             

Doogie Corner Presentations    

In addition to the demonstrations and brilliance being shared at each of over 20 booths, enjoy special presentations in our Doggie Corner: 

·      Ask A Vet – Dr Paula Aycock, Dr. Paula’s Mobile Clinic – Pose curious or pressing urgent questions  to Dr Paula, a compassionate veterinarian in an open Q&A forum. 

·      Jon Provost, aka Timmy – reconnect with tales of Lassie and gain insights to Hollywood, and more.

·      Leeron Liftik – Learn and observe as local Dog NERD, aka Behaviorist, demonstrates how to identify emotions and modify your dog’s behaviors.

Plus ongoing dog competitions, games, and activities celebrating our special bond with our furry friends.

Paws and A Cause is a Community FUNdraiser Event!

General proceeds support Nevada City Rotary’s youth and community service projects. And we encourage participating organizations to host fun activities in their booths to spotlight and fund their work.
