Forecast remains on track with our next weather system impacting Northern CA Wednesday to Friday with a Winter Storm Watch remaining in effect for heavy snow possible Thursday into Friday.

Widespread rain with isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds, and cooler temperatures will also accompany this storm with late Wednesday into Thursday morning showing the heaviest periods of rainfall.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 1 AM Thursday (Nov 13) until 4 AM Friday (Nov 14) for the Sierra above 5000 feet in elevation.

Periods of moderate rain may lead to slick roads, roadway ponding and minor nuisance flooding of poor drainage areas, creating difficult commute conditions.

Forecast rainfall totals from Wednesday through Friday. Highest totals of 2 to 4 inches possible across the northern Sacramento Valley/surrounding terrain and Sierra/southern Cascades, with totals of 1 to 2 inches possible elsewhere.

Gusty southerly winds may cause downed tree limbs and weakened trees and localized power outages. Unsecured items could be impacted, including temporary structures and holiday decor. Difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles.

Gusty south winds are expected on Thursday in conjunction with this system. Strongest winds are expected through the Delta, northeastern Sierra foothills, and Sierra crest.
