MARYSVILLE, Calif. (Dec. 17, 2025) – Yuba Water Agency’s Board of Directors approved $10,000 in sponsorships to support early literacy and stewardship of the Yuba River watershed.
A $5,000 sponsorship to First 5 Yuba County will support local implementation of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a nationally recognized program that helps deliver free, high-quality books each month to local children from birth to age five. The funds will provide age-appropriate books for local families, many of which highlight nature, wildlife and natural resources. These stories help spark curiosity about the environment and build early social and academic skills.
“Giving children the tools to read, learn and appreciate the place they call home benefits all of us,” said Yuba Water Board Vice-Chairman Wayne Bishop. “An investment in our kids is an investment in our future.”
A second $5,000 sponsorship will support the South Yuba River Citizens League’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival happening Feb. 19-23, 2026. The annual event encourages environmental awareness and a deeper appreciation for the Yuba River watershed through film.
